Vault Knox, drawn

Three ideas the records keep returning to.

Vault Knox is the name Vaultize gives to the methods behind encrypted fragmentation, deduplication, secure containers and controlled sharing. Read as drawings, the twelve records reduce to three.

  1. FIG. 2AABABthree chunks in · two stored · both encrypted

    Deduplicate, then encrypt

Identical chunks are recognised before they are stored, so the vault keeps one encrypted copy of each and still returns every version on demand. This is the pairing that lets encrypted storage stay efficient.

  2. FIG. 3WHO · WHERE · UNTIL · EDITrules travel with the container, not the network

    Rights inside the container

A file is held in a discrete container that carries its own rules: who may open it, from where, until when, and whether it may be edited in place. The rules are evaluated wherever the container goes.

  3. FIG. 4ID?who · from where · when · revokethe sender keeps the string

    Links that know their visitor

A shared link asks for an identity before it opens, records who used it and from where, and the sender can change or withdraw access after the link has gone out. Messages with attachments get the same treatment.
